Class
Descriptions
The
yoga styles described below can be scheduled for group,
private or semi-private sessions. Private sessions are
an opportunity to get all of your questions answered,
to receive assistance in developing your home practice
or for people who have difficulty finding time in their
schedule to attend classes. Private and small group
sessons are also an opportunity to work with specific
injury, limitations and special conditions more intimately.
Vinyasa
Yoga is a style that combines flowing postures
with Pranayama (breath work) to promote mental and physical
focus. Vinyasa improves strength, flexibility and circulation
by integrating breath and movement into sequences that
flow while keeping awareness on posture and alignment
throughout the practice. Vinyasa yoga can range from gentle
flow to a more vigorous practice.
Hatha
Yoga focuses on integrating body, mind, spirit
through pranayama and asanas (poses) which are held for
a longer period of time. The pose is held until a relaxation
can be found in each pose. This practice improves the
endocrine, nervous, and circulatory systems through the
holding of postures and infusion of breath.
Restorative
Yoga does not emphasize challenging physical
postures rather utilizes props that allow you to completely
relax, find peace and restore. Poses are held for a long
period of time with specific calming pranayama. This is
a soothing class where you can let go completely.
Vinyasa
and Restorative Yoga can be paired for a balance
of intense flow and postures and complete relaxation following.
This allows the body to take in all of the benefits of
the practice.
